The Advanced Diploma is for those who have completed the diploma or for active celebrants who have completed the Foundation Certificate.
The Advanced Diploma is gained by a researched dissertation of 10,000-15,000 words on a subject of interest to the student within the LifeRites remit. A tutor is allocated to each student and tutorial time is arranged by mutual agreement.
Assessment is by the written paper and by viva
Assessment is based on the significance of the document’s contribution to furthering the work of LifeRites or the understanding of issues within the LifeRites remit.
Submission of research area should be submitted with enrolment although finalisation of title will not be expected until later in the course.

The student will choose their own dissertation within the LifeRites remit to reflect an area of interest to them. There will be opportunity to discuss possible titles and approaches with their allocated tutor.
The dissertation should show evidence of personal research and experience
Each dissertation must be no less than 10,000 words and no less than 15,000 and must be accompanied by a bibliography of all research material.
All direct quotes from research material should be indented left and right within the body of the text and annotated by author, publication and page number.

Students may wish to take more than one year to complete the research and dissertation and suitable deadlines may be negotiated with the course directors on an individual basis.
